Mesquite has a sweet caramel flavour, and is a perfect addition to lattes, cakes, smoothies, and homemade chocolates! It is a good alternative to other sweeteners due to its low GI of 25, and can help to stabilise blood sugar levels. Mesquite powder (from mesquite pods) also has high levels of magnesium, potassium, calcium zinc, iron and the amino acid lysine.
